How to Become a ChristianHow to become a Christian? Admittedly, religion can be quite complicated. There are so many different denominations, churches, and world religions it can be very confusing- don't give up! God promises that you will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart. Contrary to popular belief, knowing God is simple. There are just two truths you must understand: 1) YOU ARE A SINNER- No need to get offended, you are in good company. The Bible teaches, "all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God (Rms. 3:23). Just a few questions- have you ever stolen? cheated? lusted? used God's name as a curse word? Desired someone elses belongings? Right there you have broken half of the Ten Commandments! If you have an infection you need an antibiotic. If you have a sin problem you need a proven cure. Being a good person is not the cure. The Bible teaches that our "good works are as filthy rags in the presence of God". If you think being good is enough to get you to heaven you are caught in the trap of not knowing if you are good enough. Where is the line to cross to get into heaven? What are you to do? Well, there is a proven cure... 2) YOU NEED A SAVIOR- Jesus Christ died for your sins. He did not provide a way, He is the only way (Jn. 14:6). Jesus was born of a virgin (not made by man! He is God), lived a sinless life, was crucified, and rose to life after three days. The Bible teaches that He ascended to heaven and will return some day. How do I make Jesus my Savior? Well, you have to start by making Him your Lord- what does that mean? Have you ever been married? Ever went into the military? Purchased/sold a vehicle? Addicted to alcohol or drugs? Then you know what commitment, sacrifice, life-change, and transferring ownership is all about and you are very close to the Kingdom of God! Jesus promises to take you past (sins) if you are willing to give Him your future (service). If you are not willing to change your life you are not ready to follow Jesus. He told His followers to "take up their cross daily and follow Him"(Luke 9:23)- that means dying to self. If you are tired of making bad decisions and want to change consider praying this short prayer- "Dear Lord Jesus I know that I am a sinner and I believe that you died for my sins. I confess that I am a sinner and that you alone can save me from my sins. My life is now yours. Thank you for saving me and help me to love, honor, and serve you the remaining days of my life".
